Mayor Val Schier has called on the most creative kids in the region, challenging them to create a tropical design for the Cairns Regional Council’s Christmas e card.

Children from all regional schools are invited to draw and submit their ideas, and Cr Schier said using e cards was the most environmentally sound way to deliver Christmas wishes and the most efficient.

“We want to have a digital greeting card that reflects the wonderful environment we have here in the Cairns region,” she said.

The Council is calling on all primary school children under the age of 12 to submit designs for this year’s greeting card.

“We know there are some very talented young artists out there. We expect some great entries," Cr Schier said.

Council will award a prize for the best entry and will use the winning design on its signature Christmas card.

Competition forms are available from any branch of Cairns Libraries, Customer Service Centres and online.  Entries close on 29 November.
