YouTube success for Nothing Like Australia campaign.

Tourism Australia’s latest campaign created to 'set the record straight’ on Aussie stereotypes is being hailed as a huge success after attracting more than 11,000 hits in the first two weeks.

The YouTube clip focuses on two typical Australian stereotypes, a lager drinking man wearing a cork hat saying things like “bonza” and “Sheila” and a blonde haired surfer dude eating shrimps on a Barbie with his kangaroo and koala friends. The clip then challenges Australians to explode these stereotypes by uploading their own photos and videos and finishing the sentence “There’s nothing like…..”

Everyone who enters the competition will be promoting Australian travel worldwide and they’ll also have a chance to win their own dream holiday in Australia worth $25,000. There are also eight further holidays worth $5,000 to be won which will be picked by state.

So far just under 10,000 Australians have entered the competition and the standard of photography is just stunning! From beach sunsets to baby elephants, each photograph tells a story of Australia and the people who live there.

Editors Comments: I hope all the Port Douglas Photographers are entering this comp.  Surely we can come up with something better than baby elephants.  What about Four Mile Beach, The Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and River, Cape Tribulation, Miallo, Whyanbeel, Julatten and that's without thinking about the wildlife or the night life, which in some cases may be the same photograph.  Come on get snapping !
