Songwriter's Comp' uncovers rich vein of talent

This year the Douglas Songwriter's competition brought to you by Livewire Music has three exciting heats before the finals on Saturday 29th. 

 

The first heat for the Julatten, Mossman and Daintree region is being held at Mossman Bowls Club this coming  Friday 14th from 7pm, the second heat for the Cairns region is being held at The Salthouse in Cairns starting at 7pm and the third heat is being held at The Tin Shed (Combined Club) in Port Douglas again from 7pm. 

 

As you can see time is therefore running out for all you budding songwriter's to enter this year's event, so don't delay enter today.  Entry is just $10 and you simply call event organiser Drew Weyand from Livewire Music on 0417 046 263 or email drew@livewiremusic.com.au and he'll get you booked in for the most suitable venue. You can also download an entry form online and hand it in at the Carnivale Office in Grant Street Port Douglas. 

 

There are two categories this year - Amateur and  Professional.  Each performer plays one or two original songs in front of a panel of three judges.  Your song will be judged on lyrics, melody, structure and originality.  Professionals will also be judged on stagecraft.

 

This year there are some great heat prizes including a guitar for the top amateur of each heat, Quicksilver Reef trips and Cloud Nine music packs. Grand Final winners will receive $1,000 for professionals and $500 for the amateurs.
The Grand Final is to be held at The Carnivale Club at Sugar Wharf in Port Douglas on Saturday 29th May starting at 7pm 'til 10pm.
