Port Douglas pub crawl

Port Douglas pub crawl a must

If you love the idea of a 'pub crawl', the variety of drinks on offer and the new faces at each venue, but battle with the logistics of getting from one place to the next, then this one’s for you.

A lazy 50m (or so) walk along Macrossan Street in Port Douglas will take you past three of the most popular hotels in town – the Central Hotel, the Ironbar, and the Court House Hotel, where you can enjoy a responsible drink or two among friendly locals in relaxed tropical surroundings.

So what can you expect to see from these iconic watering holes in the coming weeks?

The Court House Hotel

With a brand spanking new menu it’s time to get down to the Courty where your ‘gastronomic capacity knows no satiety’ (we’ve been using Homer Simpson’s vocabulary builder).

As always the Courty is a live music Mecca and some new acts will be gracing the stage including Adrian Keys, a solo performer hailing from Perth and with a style that could now be described as Xavier Rudd mixed with Johnny Cash and Ray Charles and a whole lot of reggae, and Wizard & Oz, a two piece blues band with a big reputation and a lot of close association and heritage when it comes to the Courty!

The Ironbar
With the music coming thick and fast at the Ironbar the new stage area will get a workout over the next couple of weeks. Live music from here and interstate will be entertaining the masses five nights a week (Wednesday’s to Sunday’s).

And once the madness of Carnivale subsides, work will start upstairs on a new nightclub, and for the last of you smokers out there, a new beer garden area to enjoy that fresh menthol air, or share the pure coastal air with your non-smoker friends.

Central Hotel
The famous Muso’s night every Thursday at 8pm continues to attract music lovers keen to display their talents. You’ll often be treated to a wide variety of music styles, from rock and jazz to folk and other acoustic styling.  Whether you’re a musician, or just love kicking back to some live sounds, get down to the Central on any Thursday night.  Speaking of live music, popular Cairns based rock band, Frontier, will be hitting the stage during Carnivale. Ask at the Central for more information.

If you’ve still got some energy left, on 30 May then from 7pm the Cairns Adrenaline Film Festival (CAFF) Roadshow will showcase the best entries of this inaugural film competition.  This will be an event full of action packed films made by local and international action sport enthusiasts. Get inspired or just come and watch from the safety of your chair (the edge of it at least).
