Port Dougals Family Beach Day tomorrow

A great day on Four Mile Beach is planned with a whole mass of activities for all the family. This family Beach day has been a foundation event since day one of the Carnivale and it's not difficult to see why, it's such a fun filled day.

Bree & her team of merry Bop Stars are running a 4 hour dedicated Kids Fun Zone on the beach, jam-packed with games, contests, prizes and non-stop activities. Register from 10 am to be a part of the Sandcastle Building Contest (kicks off at 11 am) or the Treasure Hunt (starts at 1.30 pm).

The Court House Beach Cricket Comp may be fully booked but it'll make a great spectator sport whilst having a cold drink under the shade of the beach palm trees. It's just 6 overs each side and it makes 20/20 look positively slow and boring. The action should start at about 10am depending on the tides.

Volleyball is being featured for the first time this year and again will start about 10am.  This year, for the first time in a very long time, there will be Camel Rides along the beach - running south from the Surf Club.

SkySafari will be dropping a few sky divers into to 'lightly' crash the party and their helicopter will be landing on the beach so you might like to have a closer look.

The Outriggers will be having their competition from the beach and Windswell will be kite surfing.  Pop along if you want to give it a go!

There's even a Zumba workshop so you can dance off any excesses you may have enjoyed over Carnivale.

Of course you could just come down and laze on the beach and watch the families enjoying their day, the choice is entirely yours but either way you're guaranteed to have a great day.

Once the Family Beach is concluded, you will need to dash home, have a shower, have a quick cuppa and back into town to watch one of the highlights of Carnivale 2010, the Grand Final of the Songwriters Competition being held at the Sugar Wharf from 7.30pm.    Entrance is by (a generous) gold coin donation. Ten professionals and ten Amateur musicians will be battling it out performing their own original compositions for the coveted crown.  Come and enjoy the wealth of musical talent that Port Douglas and the surrounding areas has to offer...you will be astounded!...See you there.
