Mossman Liquor trial extended

Cook MP Jason O’Brien today welcomed a decision by the Mossman Liquor Accord to extend its trial period to six months.

Mr O'Brien said, “Elders and leaders of the Mossman community approached me last month about the possibility of an extension, and I am very pleased that it has been approved“.

“This is another step by the community towards lowering alcohol-fuelled violence and other crime, and towards a healthier, happier community, I fully support the decision and congratulate the community on that decision, and their leadership,” he said.

The trial will be reviewed after three months, and the accord also agreed to hold further talks on banning people from licensed premises.  Under the accord the sale of four-litre cask wine is prohibited until after 4pm.
