Miss Carnivale contestant sizzles at Central

The competition is really hotting up for the coveted crown of Miss Carnivale 2010.  Melanie Boon put on quite a show at the Central Hotel on Saturday afternoon with friends and family coming along to support her fundraising for this years chosen charity, Breast Cancer.

Local superstar, Dale Priem rocked the crowds with his acoustic talents as Mel's supporters sizzled the sausages and stashed the cash.

Mel added her own pink twist courtesy of a fetching pink bob (wig) that ensured everyone knew who they had come to support.  The great thing about this years contest is that all the candidates are supporting each other 'cos Sam Robertson was spotted in the crowd or maybe the other girls are just checking what each other are doing so they can just keep upping the stakes.

No, they're just doing what Port Douglas always does, they're supporting each other to make sure the fundraising reaches the highest heights.

Mel said "I'm so grateful for all those who came along to support the day, we raised over $1,000 and that's what really counts".

Editors comments: The girls are really putting in a huge effort this year, it seems a shame that there can only be one winner.  I'm told there's a lot more events to come, so keep watching Newsport for full details.
