Are you struggling to make friends and influence people?  Then the fundraising initiatives by Miss Carnivale 2010 entrants, Danica Anderson and Emma-Kate Cooper, may have the answer for you!

First, a wheelbarrow full of alcohol is being raffled at the Court House Hotel this Wednesday night.  But there’s no need to wait to purchase your tickets.  Cruise passed the Courty and buy a ticket between now and Wednesday for your chance to win. Tickets are just $2 each.

But then failing a raffle win, why not just buy new friends?  Around a dozen local hunks have offered themselves for auction up in the Sunset Bar, upstairs at the Court House in order to help Danica (pictured top left) and Emma-Kate (pictured bottom left) in their fundraising.  “We came up with the idea to help a friend get a girlfriend, but we decided to ask a few other boys to be involved as well” Emma-Kate said.

With a little bit of sweet talking, auction winners will be able to put their new friend to good use for a night helping out with oddjobs around the house or garden.  The auction and raffle will commence at the Sunset Bar of the Court House Hotel at 7pm on Wednesday, 12 May. Tickets are $25 and include champagne and nibbles on arrival.  

Last Saturday, Shoo Williams (pictured middle left) also staked her claim for Miss Carnivale 2010 by raising an impressive $500 for the Cancer Council, in particular to raise awareness for the prevention of breast cancer.

With the crucial support of many Port Douglas businesses who donated goods and services to the cause, Shoo ran a raffle at Rattle and Hum on Saturday night where Ladies and Gents hampers were the sought after prizes.  Shoo was keen to thank all of the businesses who made this event possible. “They were brilliant” she said.

Editors comments: With seven contestants now in the ring the Miss Carnivale 2010 contest is reaching it's climax.  Who will win the coveted crown ?  All will be revealed at the Miss Carnivale Masquerade Ball on Saturday evening from 7pm at the Rydges ballroom.
