In Port Shoes wins Best Carnivale Shop Window Comp

Judges Sue Dawson from Paradise Wheels, Sal Streeter from Newsport Daily and Sheryn Blundstone from Pennisula Boutique Hotel said they had great fun looking at all the great Carnivale window displays.

"In the end, the three of us brought it down to just four shops. We had various categories to mark on for the theme of vintage port and Carnivale as the entrants were told".

In the end the judges chose, In Port Shoes as the overall winner because they felt they had covered the criteria to the fullest.   "Each of the four windows within the In Port Shoes shop had a different vintage collage display from bush signs to the Bump track, a display of seeds to modern food, all the fun on Beach day, Dance, vintage cars and dress. A lot of thought had obviously gone into the whole concept" the judges commented.

The four top windows were only one point apart but this is how they finished, 2nd place, The Barber..Old photos of the original Port prior to development with Vintage Port bottles which Keith had dyed the labels in tea, burnt the edges and had a photo of Sugar Wharf...great effort. Equal 3rd place went to Anusha and Jungle Road. Both establishments went to a lot of trouble collecting antiques and memorabilia from this bygone era from around the region.

Editors comments: Fantastic effort from all entrants, the true spirit of Carnivale.
