Farmer harvests a hit at The Clink

The Farmer swapped his combine harvester for a wife over the weekend at The Clink Theatre and will repeat the process next weekend.

The naive bachelor farmer played by Tim Wild captured both our hearts and imagination.  His co-stars ably supported and furthered the roller coaster of emotions that Hugh O'Brien's superb storyline weaves.

There's nothing like a play that has a genuine villain and Graeme Lees Smith 'shmoozes' his way gently into our affections and sympathy before the killer punch is delivered.  Karl Duray magnificently contributes that little bit of charisma even though you know his character is a tad too scheming for your liking.

Jorjiah D'Arcy and Lynne Kinrade created a brilliant platform for debutant Chrissie Reushle to effortlessly bring the play to it's unexpected climax.  Writer Hugh O'Brien has cleverly interwoven a number of modern social themes into the plot using aspects of life not often attempted particularly within a comedy genre.

A triumph of a play and an excellent collection of performances.  The cast portrayed their roles with confidence and subtlety, they held the audience 's attention firmly focused through to the clever twist at the end which all great plays keep hidden until the last possible moment.

Editors comments: If you haven't booked tickets yet, don't delay book today 'cos this is a brilliant play superbly written, superbly cast and magnificently acted.  Encore!
