Elizabeth ready to start hunting again

Adult female and the latest mum, Elizabeth is being very clucky this year and still looking after three of her hatchlings. Yesterday, cruisers were lucky enough to see her with one of her brood sitting on her head right between her eyes.

The cameras were clicking to make sure the visitors experiences were recorded to take home some fantastic memories.

Elizabeth still looks very skinny after the nesting period and our cruisers have seen her probing in amongst the mangrove roots during the very low tides looking for Mud Crabs. On one such occasion a tree snake was hunting for frogs about a metre above Lizzie’s head and she was staring at it but the snake meandered on its way oblivious that the hunter was almost the prey.

While everyone was watching all this amazing activity, an Azure Kingfisher landed in front of the boat and the guests didn't know which way to point their cameras, three hunters hunting within 2 metres of us. That will make a great story to tell their family and friends back home.

Many thanks to our friends David and Tyna from Solar whisper Daintree River Cruises for this weeks fascinating observations from their world on the River.
