Crocs merciless march mauls the Centrals

The Court House Hotel Port Douglas Crocs continued their amazing progress from last years whipping boys to this years dominant force in the AFL Cairns Senior League by powering over The Centrals last Saturday.

Coach, Andy Viola admitted that his side were almost faultless as they trounced the Centrals 20.12 (132) to 9.5 (59) at Trinity Beach at Crathern Oval on Saturday.
The Crocs now clear at the top of the table have consolidated their position and created a benchmark the others are still striving to achieve.

He explained, when he guested in the morning, on the Port Douglas Radio Saturday Sports Show before leaving for the game, "We've got a pretty basic game plan that everyone understands. We had a really big pre-season working on our skills and fitness and if everyone does their job then we will achieve the right results".  Viola confirmed after the match, "It wasn't our prettiest performance but to get a result like that against quality opposition was great."

It seems that his squad have got the message and indeed are in front of the program. And even with a stiff cross wind making life more difficult, the Crocs moved and supported each other in a class above their opponents. In fact Viola is keen to give praise for the contribution of his players across the field. " If you get first use of the ball, you can always make something happen and that's what our on-ballers achieved all afternoon"

With solid confident defence from the Crocs, The Centrals struggled to find their targets, a problem The Crocs were not suffering from presenting full-forward Matt Shaw with chances to kick another seven goals to take his season tally to 30.

As for the Magoos (Reserves) they are putting together a winning streak of their own, with the play really starting to move well it was all too much for Centrals to respond the boys took it away battling a formidable cross breeze 10.12. 60 to 5.6. 36.  Although it does have to be said the inclusion of Ryan Worn and Big Darryl Taylor making a welcome return had a big impact on the game along with David Isles, who was back for the first this year.

The next test for the Crocs is against The Saints at home next Saturday 15th May 3pm .
