Winners from Paradise at Kuranda Trivia

The Central Hotel in Port Douglas hosted the third annual Kuranda Trivia Night in their covered beer garden on Wednesday evening (March 24). Over 100 guests in eleven teams gathered to test their wits against some of the finest minds in the tourism industry.
MC and Quizmaster for the evening was Marc Sleeman from Tourism Kuranda and despite his jokes he did a brilliant job to keep the evening flowing along nicely. And indeed as the complimentary drinks flowed and the excellent buffet style food platters were served the evening reached a climax of excitement when the competition was still all to play for going into the final round.
Just 4 points separated the top five teams. The team from 'Paradise Wheels for Rent' held strong to beat off a mighty challenge from 'The Mixture' by just one point with The Mercure Treetops team just 2 points behind them to take the bronze medal in third place.
There were also three teams who tied for fourth place on 69 points including The Plantation Resort, who by the way won the award for loudest team in the competition, Haba Dive and the 'Been there, done that' team from The Pavilions Accommodation Resort.
So the evening couldn't have been a closer finish but it should be noted that 'Team Gavin' which included Jacob and Margaret from Palm Villas were delighted with their prize for propping up the trivia league ladder from last place on a still creditable 57 points. The sponsors team looking after the food, the drinks, collecting answer papers, keeping the scores and generally keeping tabs on everything to ensure a good time was had by all, contributed to a fun filled night.
The sponsors, Kuranda Scenic Railway, Kuranda Tourism, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Reef and Rainforest Connections did their region proud and put on a superb evening for their Port Douglas region clients to talk about for a long time.
Editors Comments: A very good evening had by all, I shall enjoy the lunch at Frogs Restaurant in Kuranda which I won for not having a tattoo, strange but true!
