Paradise Concerts will celebrate the launch of its sixth season on Saturday 20 March with a Gershwin gala, featuring the famous piano spectacular, Rhapsody in Blue starring pianist Benjamin Martin.

Artistic Director of Paradise Concerts, Leigh Paine said Benjamin Martin, a Musica Viva touring artist, is considered one of the world’s finest musical talents of his generation and will travel from Sydney to perform at the opening gala.

“The opening concert will be a black-tie, social affair as it has been in previous years.  Featuring the jazz -inspired classic Rhapsody in Blue, plus music and songs by Gershwin, Kern, Copland and Ravel – performed by vocalist Joy Power Cleary, Benjamin on piano and myself on violin – it is destined to be an evening to remember.

“Once again, Cairns jeweller, Shane Rowe has donated a beautiful piece of jewellery for our opening night that will be auctioned by ABC Radio presenter, Kier Shorey.  We also look forward to a special season opening by our local councillor, Diane Forsyth.”

Paradise Concerts 2010 series will be performed at Kewarra Beach Resort’s Grand Hall situated just 40 minutes south of Port Douglas.

Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue at Kewarra Beach Resort will be held on Saturday 20 March from 4.30pm for drinks and 5.30pm concert.
