Port Douglas Inaugural Marlin Challenge announced

By Roy Weavers

Great excitment has been generated around the Port Douglas fishing and marine community with the announcement that the inaugural Port Douglas Marlin Fishing Challenge has been confirmed.

This competition taking place all week, starting on November 11th through to 16th is open to all worldwide fishing competitors.

Organisers report that over twenty five boats have already confirmed they will be challenging for the weeks top honour. The boats will be stationed at Meridien Marina in Port Douglas.

The format of the challenge is two days fishing, back for a rest day and then out again to put the finishing touches for their week over the last two days.  The Marlin fishing employs the tag and release system and the crew who achieve the highest number of tags win the overall competition.

This is big game fishing at its best in one of the best Marlin fishing regions in the world.  It is planned to capture all the action of the competition on video over the week for future TV broadcast and DVD release with full coverage of Port Douglas and the surrounding region to help promote the event to become one of the 'Formula One' fishing events for the world fishing calendar.

For full details of entry and activities will be available shortly on www.portdouglasmarlinchallenge.com
