The blockbuster TV series, “The Pacific,” begins on HBO in the US from March 14. This mega mini-series, produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman in association with HBO Films, Playtone, Dreamworks and Seven Network Australia was shot near and around Port Douglas and other locations around Australia. 

“The Pacific” chronicles United States Marine Corps action in World War II’s Pacific Theater of Operations from landing in Guadalcanal to the Japanese surrender. It promises to be as successful as the previous superb mega series 'Band of Brothers'.

It has been spearheaded by Bruce McKenna (co-executive producer), who was one of the main writers on Band of Brothers and Hugh Ambrose, the son of Band of Brothers author Stephen Ambrose, served as a project consultant.  The exact date of broadcast for Australia has not yet been set but we have been advised by Channel 7 that it will follow directly behind the US launch.
