Dog rego made easier with new payment option

By Roy Weavers

Cairns regional Council (CRC) have announced that Dog registration payments will be more convenient with new payment options established with Australia Post.

CRC now offer a payment option for dog registration renewals in the same way residents can make rates and water usage payments at any Australia Post office.  Added options to the new payment method will be by Australia Post Billpay internet site and over the phone.

Deputy Mayor Margaret Cochrane said the three possibilities will make paying the dog registrations, issued in the first week of July annually, easier for dog owners.

“The majority of owners pay their rego in the discounted period, before 1 August, by way of the three options already available – in person, on Council’s website and payment by mail,” Cr Cochrane said.

“These new options will ensure ease of payment for those owners hampered by distance or lack of time during traditional working hours.”

“Australia Post will now offer a sort of one-stop-shop opportunity for paying for Council’s major services at any of the 26 registered post offices throughout the region.”

Animal management staff will issue tags and send them by post to dog owners on receipt of payment through the same process that currently occurs where payment is made through Council’s website.
