Wet Tropics kid’s competitions
by Mat Churchill
The Wet Tropics Management Authority are running two competitions for the kids to help celebrate the Year of Environmental Sustainability and International Year of Biodiversity, and to educate them in the importance of protecting the reef and rainforest for future generations.
The first of the two competitions is the Reef & Rainforest: Keep it Wild poster competition.
Prep and primary school classes are encouraged to get involved by drawing or painting an A3 landscape sized poster, create a collage or small mural or wall hanging with the theme of “portraying one message on how to reduce your impact on our reef and rainforest World Heritage Areas.”
Entries are due on Friday, 25th June 2010, and entry forms can be found at the Wet Tropics website.
The second competition is the Spott the Python colouring in competition with a Breakfast with the Birds family pass to The Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary up for grabs. The competition aims to teach others how to act safely and responsibly around snakes in the wild, and encourage others to respect our native wildlife.
To enter go to the Wet Tropics website. Entries close on Saturday, 24 July 2010.
