Port Crocs keep storming on
by Pat Barnett
And once again the Crocs prevailed! Watson’s Oval was awash with blue and white as both Crocs teams came home victorious after a stunning clash on Saturday.
North Cairns Tigers fielded a competitive side in both games and had even caught the lead late in the 3rd term in the reserves grade game. The Tigers strived to turn it on for Richard Eggins who was playing his 300th CAFL league game for them, Richard, who helped the Crocs out last year to fill up the numbers was very pleased that his 300th, and final game would be played against Port.
Unfortunately Leigh's boys halted their celebrations by storming back with tonnes of character to take the game by 15 points. It would be fair to say without the leadership and skill of Johnny Raf, Worny and Bryce the result may have been different but it definitely took all 22 to see Port Douglas Crocs trough to the siren. North’s where a team the Crocs reserves needed to beat.
Final scores where, North Cairns 9.6-60, Port Douglas 11.9-75

Port Douglas Crocs Senior coach Andy Viola took what was a mix of players into this weeks game looking to broaden his Senior player base and experiment with the huge depth of talent Port Douglas possesses.
With the return of grand final veteran and legend, Timmy Karpany it was good to see his pace and reading of the play hasn't left him one bit and the quiet achiever tore North’s up.
With Matt Shaw going on a break soon he was in goal kicking mode trying to keep the lead on the CAFL competition finishing with 7 for the day runner up Matt Walsh (Saints) responded with 10 against South’s to bring the difference down to 5 goals.
They are sitting on 45 and 40 respectively and will add a bit of excitement to the year as it progresses. But the rest of the Port Douglas boys also fired for the day with youngster Mick Doust showing great form held them to a 9 goal berth.
