Outdoor Film Festival just around the corner

by Mat Churchill

This is a friendly reminder to all you film buffs out there that on Sunday, 13 June from 6pm, the National Film & Sounds  Archive’s Big Screen will turn Rex Smeal Park into the goldenest of gold class cinemas. (Reporters note: I am aware goldenest isn't a word).

Kick back and relax to some fine Australian cinema including Geoffrey Rush and a galaxy of other Australian stars appearing in the sensational 'Bran Nue Dae', followed by the 1954 classic 'King of the Coral Sea' starring Chips Rafferty, and the short film 'Sharpeye' as the cherry on top.

So pack your picnic basket and rug, put the kids in the car, and get down to Rex Smeal to take advantage of a rare night of big screen action in Port Douglas.

Tickets are just $2 for the double feature (and the short film) and will be available at the gate. That's cheap as Chips (Rafferty)...Sorry.  This is going to be great fun, how many times in your life will you be able to watch a film entitled "King of the Coral Sea" on the banks for the Coral sea.  Cool eh?
