by Nick Carling

The last Sunday of Carnivale, 30 May, saw over 100 competitors run in the Hahn Super Dry Port Douglas Duathlon over 2 distances as follows:

Short Course - 1km run / 10k ride / 2.5km run
Long Course - 2.5km run / 20km ride / 5km run

The overall winner for the Mens Long Course was Joel Murray in a time of 1:07:15secs and the overall winner for the womens Long Course was Jo Carmen in 1:18:50secs.

Among the runners and riders there were some great efforts by some of very own locals who joined in this competitive field.

Nick Carling from Actin Fitness was the first local across the finish line in the Long Course and was positioned in a very creditable 9th place overall in just 1:13:56secs.  Lucy Forbes was the 3rd overall female in Long Course (2nd in her category) in 1:24:23secs.  Alan Porteous finished 17th Overall in long course.

Chelsea Walk achieved 7th place in her category in the Long Course.   Rebecca Dowsey, Michelle Scott, Anni Conn and Wil Conn came 1st in their category and 7th overall in Short Course.  Natalie Smith, Miranda Cristaldi, Kate Houlahan, Michelle Sant, Guy Besley and Lesley Stephens teamed up o take 1st place in the Teams category for the Short Course.

The next Plantation Resort Tri-Port SuperSprint Series is on Saturday 19th June for those interested. 9.45am at Rydges Pool, with BBQ and drinks back at Plantation at 12noon with awards.
