Fast paced games as midseason approaches

Senior Netball Round Up

With all teams keen to leave themselves in a good position as the midseason break approaches, it was a fast paced game that was won in defence, with the Crocs coming out on top to defeat Sugarland Shooters 22-18. The best player being R. Phillips.

 

The Cougars narrowly defeated Julatten Jewels 33-30 with the best player on the night being N. Pitt. The Cougars stormed home to take the win, even though injuries meant they played most of the game a player short. Another highlight for the Cougars was the stellar debut performance of Joni Bennett.

 

The Jets had a great game defeating the Pink Panthers 31-23, with the best player being A. Pringle.

 

The game between Quicksilver and Young Guns saw many turnovers and the score going goal for goal due to great shooting from both teams, Quicksilver came out on top over the Young Guns team with a final score of 29-27. Best player for the night was C. Ryan.

 

Rattle N Hum had another win against Blood Orange winning 35-25, with the best player being B. Hatfield. And the Black Panthers defeated the Breakers 37-20, with L. Muranty the standout player.

Junior Netball Round Up

 

The Under 10s' Mossman Primary played the T-Birds last Tuesday at Port Courts, and Mossman came out blazing shooting 3 goals to nil in the first half. Jaslyn Chesterfield put in a great game and Sophie O'Gorman was fantastic through the centre.

 

The T-birds rallied and scored 2 goals in the last half with Cartier Bennet putting in a great defending game and Tiah McLean working hard as goal keeper. Final score Mossman 10 defeated T-birds 2. 

 

The Crocs played well against the Dolphins, who welcomed Hayley on her first game. The best players were Phoenix Scott-Spackman and Kalani Revel.  The Dolphins played their best game of the season, with all girls playing well. Standouts were Kyah and Bonnie Frances and Kirra Singleton.  Final score Crocs 4 defeated Dolphins 1.
 


The Under 12's Crocs played Mossman Primary. Mossman had 3 goals on the board by half time to the Crocs 1, but the Crocs fought back scoring 1 goal in the 3rd quarter to Mossman's nil. Mossman rallied in the last quarter to score 2 goals nil, with Holly Brown putting in a great attacking game and Shanice McLean worked hard through centre.  Best players were Kloee Revel and Molly Delaney.     Final score Mossman Primary 5 defeated Crocs 2. 

 

Saint Augustines tried very hard in a great contest against Mossman High (10 goal handicap), the mid court players did well with player of the match going to Phoebe Coxon, Emma Stievano was excellent as keeper.  Maddy Weaver for Mossman High shot some excellent goals and Karla Logan was best & fairest.  Final score Saints 1 def. Mossman nil.


The Douglas Dragons played Miallo Thunder and the Thunder played well with 5 players, thanks to Lana Baxter and Georgia Kelly from the U10s who filled in the gaps and played great games.  Player of the match went to Saisha Schonenberger for continued improvement. 

 

The Dragons put in a great game leading 4 goals to 1 by 3/4 time. New player Taylor Miller fitted in well with the team and put in a great game and Katie Gibson moved well over the court creating play. The final quarter saw the Thunder shoot 4 goals to 1, with the game ending up a draw on 5 goals each.

 
The Under 12-16s competition opened with the Breakers playing the Mixtures. The Mixtures started the game impressively shooting 5 goals to 4, but the Breakers steadied and shot 4 goals to 1 in the next quarter.  For the Mixtures Tayler Durie was excellent throughout the game and Eleisha Mealing was strong in defence.Zara Ryan stepped up her attacking game and Karina Pellegrinet shot well for goal. Final score Breakers 13 defeated the Mixtures 12.

 

Mossman High played the Jets and Mossman dominated the game from the beginning leading 6 goals to 3 by half time. Karla Logan was voted player's choice for the Jets and Lauren Radcliffe for Mossman, a great effort for an Under 12 player.  Final score Mossman 10 defeated Jets 3.
