Boost for first home owners in Douglas

Premier Anna Bligh has announced several new initiatives to assist Queensland’s population boom.  Amongst them is a $4,000 boost in addition to the existing $7,000 First Home Owners Grant.

Queenslanders who buy new homes outside of the state's southeast will be able to use the extra money and the boost will be available to buyers in the shire formerly known as Douglas.

Simon Cody, lender at Port Home Loans, is excited about the grant “Our first home buyers are going to really benefit from this windfall, it’ll go a long way to helping them get into their first home”.

Mr Cody also mentioned that a lot of buyers aren’t even aware that the grant has already kicked in.

“It started for new contracts entered into from the 1st of June, and it’s available for newly built homes or construction contracts entered into after this date.”
