Tourism Australia's Managing Director, Andrew McEvoy, will be coming to Port Douglas at the invitation of TPDD's EO Doug Ryan.

Mr Ryan said this will be a great opportunity for tourism operators in the area, "We'll be holding an open forum so tourism operators can come and ask questions of Andrew."

Mr McEvoy was appointed to the top job in January this year, after working as Chief Executive of the South Australian Tourism Commission.

"The tourism industry is of enormous importance to our communities and our national economy and Tourism Australia plays a central role in the leadership and direction-setting for the industry," he said.

Although a date has not been set in concrete, plans are being made for 17 August.
