Solar Eclipse Marathon website launched

by Mat Churchill

In just 854 days the Solar Eclipse Marathon Port Douglas 2012 will commence with the now famous "intergalactic starting gun" alerting runners to get their mind off the cosmic phenomenon and onto the route that will take thousands of competitors through some of the area's most beautiful terrain.

That's plenty of time for you to get into shape to compete in Port's very own 42km adventure marathon.

So now that we can count you in, you'll want to find out everything there is to know about the unique event, and that's where the new Solar Eclipse Marathon website will help.

Solar Eclipse Marathon Website

Packed with beautiful imagery and practical information, you can learn all about the solar eclipse including the path it will take (yes, we are in the prime position) the marathon route, and all about the week long calendar of events that will make the whole experience one to remember (even if you choose not to run).

Port Douglas Event Management's, Bruno Bennett, is pleased with the look of the Solar Eclipse Marathon website "tourismportdouglas.com.au and Tourism Port Douglas Daintree have provided photographs which, I think, sells Port Douglas to the world regardless of whether people want to run in the event or just come and experience the place."

Being an adventure marathon means that enjoying the experience, the surrounds, and the company of other participants is more important that breaking the tape first.

As a premium marathon event in its purest form, there will be no abbreviated courses for those looking for a shorter route. "Participants will have seven hours to finish, and those who complete the marathon will receive a well-earned medal, and finishing certificates will be available online." Bruno said.

Editors Comments: Please note that to run in this event if you're from the local area and don't require the tour package, you will need to be a member of either the Port Douglas or Cairns Running Clubs.  Local entry will be limited so don't delay too long as to whether you're gong to run or not.
