Port Douglas magazine goes national

Issue 3 of Port Douglas - Jewel of the Pacific Rim magazine will be hitting the top end of town in Sydney and Melbourne from 21 July in a bid to promote Port Douglas direct to the highend market.
Josh McConnell of tourismportdouglas.com.au and The Newsport, the publishers of the magazine, says this is a great opportunity for local businesses to gain exposure in the southern states.
"We'll be distributing the magazine to large corporate head offices like Channel 7 and the head offices of the NAB bank, in the Docklands area to make sure it gets in the hands of the CEO's and PA's of the CEO's. It will also be in the cafe's where they and their employees get their morning coffee from, and the eateries where they eat their lunches," he said.
"Melbourne and Sydney are our two biggest markets. Docklands (Melbourne) and Darling Harbour (Sydney) are the specific areas Port Douglas needs to try and reach. People who live and work in these areas generally have a high disposable income and want to come to a 5 star destination like Port Douglas."
The expansion of distribution into NSW and Victoria, and potentially into other targeted areas, is something Mr McConnell wants to continue well into the future.
So what makes the magazine different to other publications promoting the area? "It's a very well written, very attractive glossy magazine with high quality images. This is how we believe Port Douglas should be showcased." McConnell said.
