New guide for tourism businesses

'The Big Marketing Guide', an online reference tool designed to help new and small tourism businesses with their marketing, media and PR, and branding, has been launched at the recent Tourism Futures conference in Brisbane.

According to Tourism Minister, Peter Lawlor, the online guide will help operators with the promotion of their businesses. "This guide is full of practical tips and examples of how tourism businesses can sell themselves to visitors, both here in Australia and around t he world."

Sections of the guide include information on how to write a marketing plan, and understanding digital marketing, "(Digital marketing) is such a huge part of today's online world and will give operators an understanding of how they can best use the internet in their businesses." Mr Lawlor said.

In addition to the The Big Marketing Guide, Tourism Queensland CEO, Anthony Hayes, launched the Grants Guide for tourism operators. This guide is aimed to give operators an understanding of what government grants are available, how to apply, and what happens if the application is successful.

"Tourism Queensland's core business is to develop tourism in Queensland and market our state to the world, so I'm very proud of these two new resources for industry." he said.
