Bird watchers from around the world will be flocking to the British Birdfair in August, and Trish and Andrew Forsyth from Red Mill House in Daintree Village will be representing Australia.

“Our aim is to convince the British birdwatchers that Australia is still a value-for-money birding holiday destination” Trish said.
 

The annual Birdfair attracts 23,000 birdwatchers from the UK and Europe. There are more than 300 displays from around the world representing a range of products and services including conservation groups, tourism bodies, optics suppliers, publishers, tour companies and birding organisations.

Queensland has had presence at the British Birdfair for over ten years and Red Mill House has been involved for the entire time.  This year Andrew and Trish will be representing and promoting five businesses from the Daintree that have a focus on birdwatching and birdwatchers.
 

“We’re very excited about attending the British Birdfair and promoting the Daintree region and TNQ while we are there. We strongly believe that any of this type of promotion, even to special interest groups like birdwatchers, is extremely valuable to the region.” Trish said.

And why wouldn't avid birdwatchers want to come to Far North Queensland? "We're hoping to get huge exposure for the area," Andrew said. "Within a 150km radius of Cairns International Airport people can see over half of Australia's bird species."
