Crocs continue their feeding frenzy

The Croc Pit was once again alive with action as the league's two most northern teams on the ladder and in location for a Saturday of hard hitting footy.

It was a big weekend for the Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs as they had finally taken second spot from reigning premiers the Saints, and were keen to see if they could go the distance against Port's powerhouse senior side.

To demonstrate the level of commitment within the team, star full forward Matt Shaw took to the field just hours after marrying the love of his life in a beautiful ceremony.

Most people would see this as a fair reason not to play on Saturday, but for Matt it meant a lot to play in front of his extended family and do his bit for the team. His six goals for the day takes his season tally to 60, and leads the league's goal kicking.

Sammy Boxall continued his great form up forward, as did Stevie Lyons in defence. Matty Manns and Gareth Delaney worked hard through the rotations and all delivered superbly for the team.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Crocs streaked away to beat the Bulldogs 24.16 (160) to 8.12 (60).

In the magoos the Bulldogs struggled for numbers, and in a fine display of sportsmanship the Crocs played with 17 on the field.

With an obvious lack of depth and no bench it was a struggle for the Doggies to pin the pacey Crocs down.

Timmy Hanly performed well at full forward with the Crocs' slick midfield feeding the ball easily into his hands allowing him to kick eight majors. The Crocs' backline was equally as formidable allowing just one behind to be scored all day.

The win came at a price with young Sam Gibson taking a disturbing hit to the head that saw him airlifted to Cairns Base Hospital. Fortunately he is OK and should be back in no time.

The Crocs finished the day 24. 14 (158) to the Bulldogs 0.1 (1).

The Crocs have the bye this weekend before facing Souths at home.
