Highlander music fundraiser

By Roy Weavers

After the unfortunate incident on Sunday February 14th when Autumn Cox lost her arm in a freak ride on mower accident, the community has immediately got together to see how it can help.

Obviously an accident of this magnitude will take time to heal.  It will also mean a lot of adjustments for Autumn and her husband Greg especially with the medical costs that they will incurr.

So in an effort to help the local Julatten couple get back on their feet, Grub Hewitt from Grub Personal Trikes tours has put together a day of fun and fundraising and a battle of the bands day at the Julatten Highlander Tavern.

There will be live music starting from 11am with a line up of over 11 bands taking to the stage. Kan'd Peaches, Hillbilly Goats and Bennett & The walker Boys are just some of the bands that will be playing between auctions and raffles that will be taking place on the day. There will also be a gold coin donation for BBQ and other food and refreshments on the day.

There will also be raffle tickets on sale in the next couple of days with the chance to win prizes from Sailaway, Poseidon, Sky Safari, Haba Dive, Mossman Bait & Tackle and lots more. You will be able to buy these raffle tickets from Reef Adventure Centre in Port Douglas, Nine Mile Store in Julatten and Foodworks in Macrossan St, Port Douglas.

All are welcome, so get along to this fantastic day of music, fun and support.

Editors Comments : I love this community, when trouble strikes, it is just tireless in it's support.  Well done Grub and the community, I know Autumn and Greg will appreciate this show of strength by the community for one of it's own.
