Get ready for the reef at Treetops Resort

Port Douglas holidaymakers and local residents now have a great opportunity to experience the fantastic sensation of breathing underwater – and it won’t cost a cent!

Blue Dive Port Douglas is offering a programme of free PADI Discover Scuba Diving sessions in the lagoon swimming pool of the Mercure Port Douglas Treetops Resort starting at 11am on Sunday February 28. There will be further sessions on March 7 and March 28.

Mark Fraenkel, from Blue Dive told us that “it’s natural that some people are at first nervous of scuba diving, after all breathing underwater is unnatural - but that’s exactly the fun of it”.

Mark explained “I moved here from the UK so I could dive on the Great Barrier Reef - it seems a shame to holiday here and not get that experience and here’s a great opportunity for those people to experience scuba in a controlled and easy environment with one of our professional instructors”.

These sessions are perfect preparation for participants who are thinking of completing their full PADI Open Water certification.

Nathan Hunt, GM at Mercure Port Douglas Treetops Resort told us that these sessions will available both to in -house guests and that they would also be open to those not staying at the resort. He continued “and all that all that’s required is good medical health and a great sense of adventure.”

The minimum age for these sessions is 12 and those under 18 need parents’ written consent.
