Cowboys swing in to Sea Temple Golf course
by Josh McConnell
The world class Sea Temple Golf and Country Club played host to the North Queensland Cowboys Rugby League team on Sunday which included Johnathon Thurston and new recruit Willie Mason, after playing in Cairns on Saturday night against the Warriors in a trial match for the coming NRL Season.
With nearly the total playing list lining up to tee off, it was Willie Mason who took to the course first with his giant frame smashing a big drive off the 1st tee as he had to dash out to Mossman and make an appearance at the Mossman Sharks Junior Rugby League sign on day after nine holes. Thurston missed out on the trial match due to tightness in the hamstrings but looked nice and loose while swinging the golf club on Sunday.
Sea Temple golf course was in immaculate condition after recent rain giving the Cowboys players a nice relaxing hit around the picturesque course. After their round of golf the Cowboys were treated to a beautiful lunch before heading back to the Cairns Airport for their return flight to Townsville.
Sea Temple Resort General Manager, Andrew McSweeney said that it was fantastic to have such a great bunch of guys come and use the facilities and without giving too much away mentioned that there could be many more celebrities coming and playing at Sea Temple Golf Course this year.
