Tri Port Challenger player profile

It's week three of our series which introduces you to our brave and super fit team of local athletes who will do us proud when Challenge Cairns comes around in June 2011.

Opportunities for businesses to throw their weight behind the team are still available, with great exposure available for sponsors who jump on board with the Tri Port Challengers.

Lucy Forbes

The Newsport: Where do you work, Lucy?

Lucy Forbes: I'm a Travel Agent at Flight Centre Port Douglas.

TN: Why are you doing this event?

LF: I am personally taking on Challenge Cairns for my fitness. I love waking up every morning in this beautiful location we call home and starting the day with either a run swim or ride.

Triathlons are a perfect way to keep fit and are great for all fitness levels. It's all about finishing the race no matter how long it takes!

It's going to be a huge accomplishment to cross the finish line after seven long months of physical endurance training and many hours of pain on the day.

TN: What's the biggest challenge undertaken to date?

LF: I completed the WhiteLion Charity Jungle Ride on 30 October. It was a 180km bike ride from Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation and back.

That mountain range on the other side of the river was a NIGHTMARE!

TN: What's your favourite leg of the triathlon?

LF: The run is my favourite leg of the race.

TN: Why should locals be excited about the event?

LF: It's going to attract lots of people to the area in terms of providing a great kick for tourism.

TN: Which team mate do you most admire and why?

LF: Chelsea Walk. She has competed in many events and brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the team. She is also a fantastic training partner
