Tri Port Challenger player profile
It's time to meet the last of the girls in our very own Tri Port Challenger team who are currently training their hearts out to get ready for what will be the biggest sporting challenge of their lives.
With months of training ahead, there's still plenty of opportunities for your business to gain exposure by sponsoring our local heroes.
Kate Houlahan
The Newsport: What do you do for a living, Kate?
Kate Houlahan: I'm a beauty spa therapist at Silky Oaks Spa
TN: Why are you taking up the Challenge?
KH: I want to challenge myself, test my limits, and improve my technique. It's going to be great fun too.
Doing something like Challenge Cairns would never of crossed my mind last year though.
TN: What's the biggest challenge you've undertaken to date?
KH: It would probably be the Hahn Super Dry triathlon which involved doing a 1km swim, 30km cycle, and 10km run.
TN: What's your favourite leg of the race?
KH: Umm, I'm looking forward to the cycle. To bike the road from Cairns to Port with no traffic and beautiful scenery will be awesome.
TN: Why should locals be excited about the event?
KH: It will bring more tourism to the town and create lots of hype and excitement throughout the town.
TN: Who is the team mate you most admire and why?
KH: I can't choose just one. I admire everyone for giving it a go.
