More say with new Council sites

Cairns Regional Council launched a new website yesterday including an online community forum designed as user friendly portals to improve interaction with the community.

Mayor Val Schier said the new sites will enable a more efficient flow of information between the public and Council.

“The visual aspects of Council’s website make it much easier on the eye and inviting for users. The web platform has been updated allowing information about Council services to be accessed more quickly and efficiently,” Cr Schier said.

“Of course all the services Council offered on the old site will be available, but it is designed for staff to load up information more easily and efficiently."

The new online forum called 'Your Say' gives residents and business people a medium to give their input and feedback on a wide variety of community issues.

"It is designed to capture the community’s ideas on a number of issues that are vitally important in the design of this regions future," Cr Schier said.

“The feedback on this site will guide Council to make decisions. It will be the platform that hosts our new Community Panel.”

The Online Community Panel will provide feedback to Council on a number of issues including services, infrastructure and facilities, the environment, social and economic issues and future directions for the community.
