The highly imaginative talent of the region’s children has been exposed in the search for a winner in Cairns Regional Council’s 2010 Christmas e-card competition.

Mayor Val Schier said the children who participated in the call for a drawing design for the e-card had shown remarkable talent.

“Council threw the challenge open to all children under the age of 12 to draw a design illustrating what Christmas in the tropics meant for them. We received over 350 entries from all across the region,” Cr Schier said.

“The CEO, Manager of Libraries, Kerrie Still and I had a pretty difficult time in choosing the very best of some incredible entries. I can say competition was tough.

“It is truly amazing that the creator of the winning entry is a boy whose Mum says is a keen young artist and is colour blind."

Entries for the Christmas e card competition are on display in the foyer of Council Chambers.

Winners were awarded with generous buckets of full of prizes.
