Sustainable Living Expo this weekend

The Sustainable Living Expo is on again this Sunday, 22 August as part of Festival Cairns 2010.

The Expo has become an annual event and provides visitors with information on how to live a more sustainable lifestyle and reduce their impacts, and promises to be a fun, colourful and inspiring day out.

Cairns Regional Council's Sustainability Officer, Maree Grenfell, said the Expo continues to grow. "We've increased the number of exhibitors from 25 last year, to 35 this year.

"There'll be sustainable living information, services, products, and innovative ideas from local people."

Inspiring recycled sculpture competition entries will be on display from local schools, and TAFE fashion students will be displaying their outfits made out of recycled materials.

The Expo is designed with families in mind and will feature children’s activities, music, food and drinks, face painting and street performance.

"We need to encourage and inspire our children to innovate," Ms Grenfell said.

The Sustainable Living Expo is a free event and will be held at the Cairns TAFE Campus (on the Gatton Street side) from 10am to 4pm.
