New faces at Muddies first Cricket training

The new Cricket season is still a little way off and with many of our other Douglas teams still heavily involved in the Winter sports final stages, it's very pleasing to see such a great turnout for the Muddies Senior teams first training session.

New Club Captain Nathan King was delighted to welcome several new faces along with a whole bunch of last years regulars.

C Grade Captain, Steve Doble said "It's great to get an early stretch to sweep away some of the cobwebs before training starts properly".

Last years Grand Final winning Captain Josh McConnell threw his expert eye over the new boys in the nets and was very pleased with what he saw.  "We have quite a job to replace 'Drago' Arnell, last years 'man of the season' but it looks like we've got some excellent new talent to build on.  They are big boots to fill but it's a team game and all the boys seem to have a determined attitude.  Back to back Championships is very much our ambition."

Club Captain King confirmed his ambitions for the forthcoming season, "We are looking for both the B and C Grade sides to be challenging for honours this year, so we need every player who is available from the area to put themselves forward".

The next training session is this coming Sunday 14th at the Port Douglas Sports Ground from 12 noon.  And if anyone is looking to play this season please contact the Cricket Club via Roy at email : wevsinoz@yahoo.com.au or call Nathan King on 0409 504 939.

All standards of cricketer are welcome or maybe you just want to roll your arm over again.  We're also looking for social members to help make the home games a big occasion that opposition "fear"....Go the Muddies!
