Flying fox summit and expo
Council and the Wet Tropics Management Authority will host a Flying Fox Summit and Expo on Friday 13 August at the Novotel Oasis Resort and later at the Cairns City Library.
Over the years Flying Fox camps throughout Australia have become an issue of concern for local governments, state authorities and residents.
Local experts, researchers, representatives from all levels of government and relevant community and industry groups will join together to discuss and evaluate a range of issues associated with flying fox camps.
Guest speakers will also present case studies relating to relocation studies, health, and legislation surrounding this protected species.
Following the summit, a flying fox expo will be held in the courtyard area of Cairns Library. The expo will provide a one stop shop for information and advice on flying fox issues and particiapnts can come face to face with a flying fox, get connected with the experts and access free information on related issues.
The Cairns Flying Fox Summit will be held at the Novotel Oasis Resort in Lake Street, Cairns on Friday, 13 August, 2010 from 8.30am to 3pm.
The Cairns Flying Fox Expo will be held in the front courtyard of the Cairns City Library on Friday, 13 August from 3.30pm to 6pm. Council will be showing the original Batman movie in City Place from 7pm.
