Douglas Junior Netball Results

Another full week of netball for the Juniors at the Port Courts at the Port Douglas Sports Ground.

 

The 10/Under Netball competition began with the Port Crocs playing the Port Dolphins last Tuesday at Port Courts, the Crocs played a great game with excellent passing and terrific shooting.  Best players went to Phoenix Scott-Spackman and Nicki Samson, well done to the team.  The Dolphins with great play by Hannah Durie and Charlotte Dowling put in a strong defensive game against the Crocs.  Final score Crocs 6 def. Dolphins 1.  

 

Mossman Primary played the T-Birds, the T-Birds shot 2 goals to nil in the first quarter with Cartier Bennett intercepting well and Sasha Lowenstein-Jones shooting well for goal.  The Mossman girls stepped up the pressure in the 2nd quarter outscoring the T-Birds 3-2, Krystal Secker was strong in attack and Sophie O'Gorman-Petrack was dominant all over the court.  Final score T-Birds 9 def. Mossman 6.

 

The 12/Under Miallo Thunder took on Mossman Primary, the Mossman Girls came out firing shooting 3 goals to 1 in the first half, Shanice McLean stood out in attack and Tyler Mous played well in defence, for the Thunder Saisha Schonenberger intercepted well and kept the pressure on her opponents, Ellie Mackay was great in goal attack to lift the team who shot 5 goals to 2 in the last half ending with the Thunder winning by a goal.  Final score Thunder 6 def. Mossman Primary 5.  

 

The Crocs played Mossman High with the Crocs keeping up with Mossman on the score board in the first quarter, the experience and age of the Mossman High team did eventually win out but not without a great contest.  Final score Mossman 11 def. Crocs 5.  

 

The Saints played the Dragons, The Saints team played an excellent game against the Dragons with a convincing win.  They displayed excellent passing and defence.  Player of the match to Marley Cairns.  The Dragons came in undermanned due to 3 players out due to illness started off well with 1 goal a piece in the first quarter but could not match the Saints for the next 3 quarters.  Special thanks to Cartier Bennett and Sasha Lowenstein-Jones for playing up from under 10s to make up a side and Tayler Miller for stepping up her defence and becoming more confident each week. Final score Saints 10 def. Dragons 1.

 

The 12-16/Under competition saw the Blue Team play the Black Team the Blue Team was down by 1 goal at half time,  Meg Goodall in defence and Simone Pringle on attack were not letting the game slip away, for the Black Team Jess Steley stepped up in defence by great intercepting and Esther Nulty was very reliable in finishing with goals.  Final score a Draw 6.

 

The Green Team started a player down and the Red Team took full advantage shooting 9 goals to nil in the first quarter, Chenoa Ryan filled in for the Green Team in the next quarter which stopped the barrage of goals but the Green Team couldn't catch up Hazuki Kirby was great in centre and Jess Eagle-Rowe name Best & Fairest for the Green Team Karla Logan intercepted well throughout the game.  Final score Red 12 def Green 3.
