Cairns Indigenous Art Fair coming soon
As part of a massive August at the Tanks Arts Centre, the attention now turns to the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair which is just days away, commencing on 20 August and running for three packed days.
The Fair is a unique event that merges an art market with a celebration of Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and brings together commercial galleries and Indigenous art centres to reveal the amazing diversity of Queensland's Indigenous art.
The packed program includes dance and music, a symposium, artist talks, professional development workshops, film, a public art trail and children and family art activities. Rising star and brilliant singer songwriter, Dan Sultan (of Bran Nue Dae fame), will also be playing at the Bippera-Kymel 2010 concert.
Port Douglas' own Sun Dance Gallery will be represented at the fair with owner, Kane Brown, returning in 2010. "It's been heavily promoted by organisers this year," he said.
"I only work with Queensland artists and I will be displaying the art of seven or eight of these."
Everything you need to know including information on specific events, times, and ticket prices can be found at the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair website.
