Shaolin under new management

By Roy Weavers

After 4 years of ownership, Steve and Katrina Edmondson from Reef Adventure Centre have sold the Shaolin, the authentic Chinese Junk that hosts a unique snorkel trip to the Low isles.

They have sold it as a complete business with operating licenses for the Reef. Steve said "We are proud to have owned and successfully operated an icon of Port Douglas, being the longest running charter boat and totally unique.  We trust Shaolin will have a happy future with the new owners".

Steve told Newsport that his reasons for selling were so that he and Katrina could concentrate more on Sailaway IV.  He said "Katrina and I will continue to make Sailaway better and stronger, attracting vistors from around the world to our fantastic destination".

"Sailaway IV our Lagoon Luxury Sailing Catamaran celebrates it's 7 year anniversary today with our original skipper Alex McNab, a legend who has safely and professionally taking care of our guests and visited Low Isles daily for 16 years with Sailaway III and IV!!

The new Owner for Shaolin is Ross Almond from Port Douglas Sailing Pty Ltd

His contact details are as follows email : RAlmond@copyworld.com.au

And as soon as they have booking details, we'll get them posted for you.

Editors Comments:  Good luck to both parties.  Steve for selling and pushing forward with Sailaway IV and the Poseidon Reef Company and Ross for his new venture with Shaolin.  I've been lucky enough to go on the Shaolin three times in the last few years and it's always great fun.  The trip out to the Low Isles is brilliant, the snorkelling is excellent and the champagne on the beach is fabulous.
