Competition for Port Douglas Carnivale Queen hotting up
Miss Carnivale 2010 candidate, Samantha Robertson who is being sponsored by Radio Port Douglas has raised the bar again with her latest fund raising antics. Sam organised a day of fun filled activities at the Port Douglas Yacht Club on Tuesday 27th April from 3pm 'til late.
Local legend Grub from Grubs Personalised Trike Tours and his band played through the day mixed in with raffles and auctions hosted by Port FM afternoon superstar Nick "The Crunch" Swainson.
The auctions lots ranged from Reef trips to pamper packages to fantastic works of art by talented local artist Chris McKenzie.
All through the day friends were popping in and out supporting Samantha in her bid to become Carnivale Queen 2010 and with this much determination she is going to take some beating. The evening ended with a DJ taking the party to a fantastic climax.
Sam was very excited when she told Newsport that her day at the Yacht Club had so far raised $3,000 actually in.
The Chris McKenzie painting fetched over $400 on it's own! The happy buyer was Jeff Cameron from Far North Services, who said he was delighted with his new purchase.
Sam said, "It was a brilliant day and I'm delighted to be able to say that the final total will rise even further today with still loads of cash to collect from some of the successful auction winners"
"I'm so grateful to everyone who has supported me especially since the real winner will be my charity" Sam said.
All the contestants for Miss Carnivale 2010 are busy fundraising for their chosen charities and generating support for their bids to win the coveted crown, so make sure when you see their events advertised you get along and give them all your support, after all as Samantha said above, the real winners will be the respective charities that the girls have selected.
