Markus Meier at Kuranda Amphitheatre

Celebrating the release of his new single from his forthcoming, as yet untitled album, Markus Meier is once again hitting the road supporting country music superstar Lee Kernaghan.

The new single, ‘A Different Land’, showcases another side of this performer’s country blues roots. Penned about the passion and hope of those residing in the Australian bush, it is an apt release, considering the fact that Markus is traversing the landscape of Australia as part of the current Lee Kernaghan Planet Country tour.

Markus harks from a musical and cultural background of the Territory, so unsurprisingly the red dirt of the bush is in his veins.  With this in mind, the stories he portrays throughout his music are firmly anchored in the bush, highlighting the hardship, humour, despair, hope and beauty of the land. His new forthcoming album, due for release mid-year, will continue to showcase this depth of understanding of the land, while earning him new fans around the country.

A new breed of country musician, Markus is no stranger to performing, and spent time honing his musical skills in bands in Darwin before launching out on his own. His big break happened in 2005 when he took out three sections of the Adelaide River NT Country Music Talent Quest, which was the first of many quests he entered. It was at one of these competitions that Markus sparked the interest of highly respected country music producer Garth Porter (Lee Kernaghan, Sara Storer, James Blundell, etc) and the two collaborated on Markus Meier’s debut album ‘Raindance’ which was released in 2007. The album earned him four charting singles, one of which hit the Top 10 with a #3 chart on the CMR National Charts and a #6 in Europe.

Now recording tracks for his second album, Markus is already earning himself a swag of appreciation and new fans from his live shows. Check out Markus Meier as one of the special guests on Lee Kernaghan’s Planet Country tour.

Markus is appearing at Kuranda Amphitheatre on Sunday April 25th.  Tickets are available at the Cairns Civic Theatre Box Office or 1300 855 835 or internet bookings on www.ticketlink.com.au
