Longest Lunch celebrity line-up revealed

When this year’s theme ‘Lunch Like a Celebrity’ was chosen for the Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch, organisers were quietly confident that their guest list would be star studded.

In news just announced by Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas general manager Lachlan Walker, Nine celebrity presenter Karl Stefanovic is returning to the event this year and will be joined by popular sports celebrity and former Australian test cricket legend Mark Waugh.

Mark Waugh is currently a sports journalist with Sydney Morning Herald and also works for Fox Sports and Channel Seven.   This will be his first visit to Port Douglas Carnivale.

"Actually it was Karl Stefanovic who told me how great the lunch was last year!” said Mark Waugh.  “I’m happy to lend my support to the Sheraton Mirage and Events NQ and their charity for this event, the Leukaemia Foundation.”

Karl Stefanovic said he was delighted at the opportunity to revisit the Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch.  "I loved the lunch so much last year, I'm glad that Lachlan (Walker) asked me back,” he said.  “I also don't get a lot of time off to come back so any excuse to catch up with my family and friends like this is excellent.”

This year’s event will have the proven successful formula of fine company, fine fashion and fine food and wines, with Sheraton Mirage executive chef Klaus Keller tipping a few surprises on the menu.   “We have spent time researching among the region’s premier suppliers and we have a few new items to showcase in this year’s menu.  I am confident that our guests will have their expectations met and matched!’ he said.

Attendees can win a trip to Sheraton on the Park with two nights accommodation and return airfares to Sydney courtesy of Virgin Blue.  Events NQ have been delighted to welcome back their sponsor line up for this year’s event, including Sheraton Mirage,  Fosters Wines, Bidvest, Virgin Blue and new co-sponsor of this year, Intrust Super, who have been servicing the region's hospitality, tourism and leisure industries for over 21 years.

Tickets to the event at the Mirage Country Club on 21st May  (11.30am - 3.30pm and longer) are $140 pp incl GST and include a three course menu, matching premium wines and quality entertainment.   For more info visit: www.foodandwinenq.com
