Dallas Frasca back with the Blues

Dallas Frasca, is all sass, embodying heavy rock, metal, soul and blues, combining them with a powerful performance, she is always a festival highlight! For the 2009 launch of the Cairns Blues Festival, she was by far one of the stand-out performers on the stellar list of artists.

For this reason, the festival organisers are thrilled to announce she will be back for 2010’s festival line up.

By 18, Frasca was on the road, displaying a maturity and irreverence on stage. Reminiscent of Chrissie Amphlett or Suzie DeMarchi, her bright red dreadlocks make her a standout!   She taught herself to play the guitar, inspired by players such as Duane Allman, Bob Brozman & Mississippi Fred Middwell.

In 2006, she won Triple J's "Light Your Fuse" competition from over 500 entries. Her career exploded from there. Two songs hit the top position on MP3.com, she released an EP, major festivals invited her to play (such as Falls, Bluesfest, Pyramid, Festival of the Sun, Queenscliff, Southbound, and massive European festival Blues Passion Cognac). At every festival, Dallas is always amongst the highest CD sellers!

But since her acclaimed performance at the 2009 Cairns Blues Festival, Frasca’s career has soared!  Her debut album Not For Love Or Money, has been given acclaimed reviews, and was stated as one of the top ten blues and roots albums, by Triple J, marking a career milestone for Frasca. The album reached number 20 on the Air independent charts, and she was added to every festival bill under the sun, including Pyramid Rock, Woodford and the Big Day Out!

Just like Frasca, The Cairns Blues Festival has also gotten bigger and better! With 2009’s debut being such a huge success, with 1500 plus punters soaking in the blues and the sun, every audience member left with an appetite for more.

In fact it was so successful organisers have decided to turn it into a two day festival, instead of just one, with international guests for the first time. The festival without a doubt was a resounding success, and will go down in local history books!

Audiences can expect a bigger, brighter and more festive festival in 2010! With Frasca’s usual brilliant performance, this artist has the true fire in her belly!

Cairns Blues Festival will be held at Fogarty Park, The Esplanade, Cairns over the Queensland Labour Day May long weekend Saturday and Sunday May 1 & 2.
