Crocs get a hat-trick and go top

The Crocs played away at Holloways Beach against Cairns City Cobras. The game was played in constant drizzle bringing the quality of the skills down and making handling very difficult especially during the Reserves game.

The Reserves team have won their first game of the season downing Cobras 6.8. 44 to the Crocs 7.14. This was a fitting win after getting so close last week and losing by 10 points in the last 5 minutes of the game.

The Port Douglas Crocs Seniors proudly sponsored by the Court house Hotel marched on their winning ways after taking Cairns Cobras apart in the first half which set up the third win in a row this season, with the final scores of Cobras 12.6. 78 to Port Douglas Crocs 17.9.111

The win was not as easy as it sounded with Cayden Beetham getting a head injury within the first ten minutes and taking no further part in the game and leaving a reduced bench for coach Viola to choose from. Port Douglas best players for this game were Paul Minchington, B Cooper, Ben McCartney, Dan Smith and Craig Shaw. The goal kickers for round four were Matt Shaw 5 Paul Minchington 3, Sam Boxall 3, Dan Smith 2, Cayden Beetham, Gareth Delaney, Ben McCartney, and Matt Manns.

This win also propels Port Douglas to 16 points and top of the ladder after four rounds leaving them a game clear from Cairns Saints, Manunda Hawks and Centrals Trinity Beach who are all on 12 points.

The next match is for Port Douglas Crocs versus Manunda Hawks at Port Douglas Sporting Complex or the more appropriate name for the footy season "The Croc Pit", and according to Coach Andy Viola, "this should be a real test of how we are going this year. We will learn a lot from playing the next three games all against the other top of the ladder teams’....Go the Crocs
