Melbourne Airport set new passenger records for August

Melbourne Airport has recorded its best ever passenger total in August, with international visitors up 7.2% and domestic traffic up 1.4% via Qantas, Jetstar and the main carriers.

Chief executive Chris Woodruff said the airport would increase its international traffic in the next few months, including capacity increases from Singapore Airlines and China Southern, and the debut of Qatar Airways in December.

Editors Comment : It makes you wish that whoever is running the airlines flying into Melbourne Airport, would look northwards and remember Port Douglas via Cairns Airport is still very much open for business especially if International traffic is up by 7.2%....Oh, wait a minute it is the same airlines !!
