The Reef Raiders rugby union team paid the price of committing too many errors and were well beaten 27-5 by Southside on Saturday. Southside led 15-5 at the break.

Raiders’ sole try came from scrumhalf Juan Dillon.

“We were outplayed, we made too many mistakes and they capitalised. Southside created their scoring opportunities from out wide and we ran out of numbers in defending our line.

“We will learn from this game, move forward and not dwell on the loss,” said coach Travis Gooch.

Gooch said a number of the younger players got their first start and this was positive.

“We have our work cut out against Brothers this weekend at the sporting complex (4.00pm). This is a key game in terms of points on the table and we must win this one,” he said.
