Ex-tropical cyclone Ann has been downgraded to a tropical low and is unlikely to impact the Douglas Shire region.

The system is expected to continue its current motion to cross the northeast tropical coast on Wednesday where it is expected to make landfall approximately 700 kilometres north of the Douglas Shire.

While there may be some wind activity associated with the system felt in the northern parts of the Shire, Douglas is expected to be mostly unaffected.

Some rain associated with the system may cause scattered showers around the region on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and people are warned to drive to road conditions.

A significant storm tide is no longer expected so while tidal rivers may swell with rain and cause minor flash floods but any major flooding is unlikely to occur.
